Medical Tattooing

We can provide access to medical tattooing, following a facial burn injury, to:

  • restore eyebrows that cannot grow back and
  • correct symmetry around the lips and eyes.

Medical Tattooing is an advanced form of permanent cosmetics.

It is sometimes referred to as micropigmentation, cosmetic tattooing, permanent or semi-permanent make-up.

The implantation technique deposits tiny individual implants of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.

The Foundation has a relationship with Karen Betts, renowned permanent cosmetic artist, to provide treatments to burn survivors free of charge across the UK. Watch this video to see Nicole at Karen Betts.

KPF are only able to provide these treatments to people with burns or scars from a trauma injury who are over 18 years who are living in the UK. We are not able to provide medical tattooing for scar camouflage.

If you have burns or scars from a trauma injury, please contact us for further information. Ezinna (Charity Services Manager) can talk to you about the options available. She can also arrange for you to speak to someone who has received medical tattooing via the Foundation if you wish.

Please do not contact Karen Betts directly.

“The tattooing that the Foundation arranged for me was definitely worth doing. Karen Betts really put me at ease and made me feel more comfortable that nothing was going to go wrong and be permanently on my face. She shaped my eyebrows and let me get used to how they looked and then she started. When they were done, they looked very alien but I quickly got used to them, especially when they got lighter over the following days.

Now I cannot imagine how I went 5 years without eyebrows! Thank you so much, it’s little things like this that make such a huge difference, however it is often overlooked and forgotten.”

“Having my lips restored has made such a different to my confidence.”
