On Saturday 14th June 2014 our second Scar Academy workshop took place at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
Hosted by Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham’s Therapy Department, we ran our one day workshop on “Scar Assessment and Outcome Measures” in partnership with Oscare http://www.oscare.be/en/ and were thrilled that the day was fully subscribed and attended by healthcare professionals (physio’s, Occupational Therapists, nurses and doctors) representing all burn services in England, Wales and Ireland. Workshops were held on clinical, objective and patient reported / quality of life outcome measures. Effective outcome measures are crucial in determining what treatments for scars are most effective.
The day will be evaluated by the participants and we’ll share their feedback with you shortly.
A number of burn survivors kindly gave up their Saturday to act as models for each workshop and later that day KPF hosted a social event for them and others who joined us in the afternoon.
Our thanks to all who helped us on the day.
